Apple Has Removed The Built-In App Store In iTunes 12.7

14 September 2017

While the new AR features showcased by Apple during the keynote event are not likely to make their way to older iPhones, iOS 11 will still bring a number of exciting new features that should make your iOS experience better.

The removal of the App Store comes with the update to version 12.7 of the software, which Apple launched in the wake of yesterday's big iPhone X announcement.

Ringtones: iOS 11 supports re-downloading ringtones directly to your iOS device, without the need to use iTunes on your Mac or PC. If you don't see the iTunes 12.7 update, try reloading the page by pressing Command-R. The option to sync ringtones and apps to your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch has been removed.

One could say that the iTunes is still doing more than what it should be but there has been a rumor for a while now that iTunes could be going away in the future in favor of separate apps for music, movies, podcasts and TV shows on the Mac. Internet Radio has become part of Music, the ringtones section has vanished entirely, and iTunes U can now be found in Podcasts.

With the latest version of its software Apple is shifting the focus entirely to music, movies, audio books and podcasts.

To download the new version, go to the "Updates" tab in the Mac App Store.

Click on the Update button at the top of the app. It's a simple process and will barely take a few minutes. If you already have Kodi running on your iOS device then you know how to do this. As confirmed by the company previously, only iPhone 5s and later iPhone models will be receiving the update. iPad models eligible for the iOS 11 update include all the latest iPad Air and Pro models, iPad 5 Gen, and the iPad mini 2 and later. People will also be more likely to use the redesigned App Store coming in iOS 11.
