Now You Can Order Food On Facebook

It's an unusual new feature that's created to keep people on Facebook for longer, and it wouldn't be hugely surprising to see it come to the United Kingdom in the future.

The social media giant has a new function called "Order Food".

Facebook has been testing this feature since a year ago and after responding to feedback and adding more partners, the company rolled it out in the USA on iOS, Android and desktop. Instead of competing directly with other food ordering services, Facebook is partnering with companies already in the business including EatStreet,, DoorDash, ChowNow, Olo, Zuppler and Slice.

To order food, a user simply needs to tap the menu button on the bottom right of the new Facebook app and then select "Order Food".

The list of national restaurants covers Papa John's, Wingstop, Panera, Jack in the Box, TGI Friday's, Denny's, EL Pollo Loco, Chipotle, Five Guys and Jimmy John's alongside local eateries.

This is the ability to order food takeout so that hungry FB users will not even need to go away from the website or app. You can also check out what your friends have to say about a restaurant before placing an order. If a restaurant works with multiple delivery services, customers can select the service they prefer. Aside from virtual reality [VIDEO] possibilities, one method that Facebook is looking to fully implement is one that already exists in their #Messenger service in some form.

The company has been testing the functionality since 2016, and has now brought it to all users in the U.S., across iOS, Android and the desktop.
