Noted Malayalam Film-Maker IV Sasi Dead

I V Sasi had more than 150 films in various languages to his credit, and was a popular face in the Southern film industry. He has been undergoing treatment for cancer. After Sasi complained of uneasiness, he was rushed to the hospital but breathed his last on the way. Sasi also directed Katrina Kaif in the 2006 Malayalam film Balram vs Tharadas.

IV Sasi had worked with Mammotty in films like Thrishna and Mrugaya which were phenomenal hits and established Mammokka's stardom. Sasi started his career began as an art director in 1968 for Kaliyalla Kalyanam. He started his directorial career officially with his first film Ulsavam.

He also helmed several critically acclaimed films like Alkoottathil Thaniye, Kanamarayathu, Aksharangal andVadakaykkoru Hrudayam. He found his place in the hearts of Malayalees through his movies like "Aroodam", which won a National Award for best feature film on national integration. Actor Kamal Haasan wrote, "My friend for 45 years IV Sasi is no more".

The filmmaker is survived by his wife Seema, whom he had met on the sets of the film Avalude Raavukkal. The industry and I mourn a great technician. Sasi has also directed Rajinikanth (Kaali/Allauddinum Albutha Vilakkum) and Kamal Haasan (Guru / Eeta / Vrutham / Allauddinum Albutha Vilakkum). "My support and love to my sister Seema Sasi and family".

Mammoottys son Dulquer Salmaan wrote on Facebook, "RIP Sasi uncle!"

Sound designer Resul Pookutty tweeted, "The man who rewrote the course of mainstream Malayalam cinema IV Sasi is no more". He created an Era of his own in Malayalam Cinema. What a remarkable innings he had in the Indian cinema industry. "Have fond memories of him from my childhood". We are sure that people are surely going to miss this legend for his good work.
