His Kebbi State counterpart, Atiku Bagudu, who was also responding to a question on whether the governors had resolved to give the President an automatic ticket, said, "The performance of the President in the last two and half years suggests that if he wants to contest, l will certainly support him and l know that our party members feel the same about him".

The National Executive Council (NEC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday delayed a vote of confidence in President Muhammadu Buhari after some party members urged the NEC to resolve on an automatic ticket for the president to fly the party's flag at the 2019 general elections.

"But once you create leadership and is functioning, you don't have to babysit that leadership unless there is a loss of confidence and I don't have that".

"We are the party of the people for the people and by the people and this is democratic environment".

Before the caucus meeting, President Buhari had met sesperately with Saraki, Dogara, Oyegun and the Chairman of Nigeria Governors Forum, NGF, and Governor of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari.

"Each of us has our role to play and that is why we are playing it". I don't believe in the myth, I believe in confidence building, the trust that we have in the president.

He said the APC government was on course and would remain focused on those necessary things about development, welfare and progress of Nigerians.

The meeting was attending by APC governors, the Senate President and the Speaker of the House of Representatives as well as the party´s state and zonal chairmen among others.
