Apple to Launch iPhone SE 2 in Early 2018

24 November 2017

While we already know this information, a recent report by China's Economic Daily News via GizmoChina reveals that Apple could be gearing up to launch the iPhone SE 2 in Q1 2018. Losing the home button and altering the design was a unsafe move, but one that was sorely needed after years of similarity and the premium design, extra power, all-screen front mix together to create - by far - the best iPhone Apple's ever made.

The current version resembles the iPhone 5S with Touch ID, a 12 MP rear camera, 2GB of RAM, and a 3.5mm headphone jack (yeah, those still exist!). Given that in the past few months, this is among the first set of rumours talking about an iPhone SE 2, it needs to be taken with a pinch of salt.

The report further states that the second-generation iPhone SE will be assembled exclusively by Taiwanese manufacturer Wistron at its manufacturing facility in Bengaluru, India.

The iPhone SE has a 4-inch screen, much smaller than the 4.7-inch display on the iPhone 7 and iPhone 8. It will retain the same four inch display, say sources. The SE successor is expected to be priced at $450.

The report also asserted that Apple's decision to go ahead with a new iPhone SE has a lot to do with the smartphone's success in India and the company's bid to double its market share in the country in the next five years.

Whatever you think of the iPhone X, there's no debating that it's the most drastic evolution that Apple's smartphone line has ever seen.
