Comedian Hannibal Buress Arrested in Miami for Disorderly Intoxication

11 December 2017

The Miami Police Department said Buress was arrested about 10:30 p.m. on a charge of disorderly intoxication, but court records later listed the misdemeanor charge as disorderly conduct.

A Miami police tweet said he was arrested on suspicion of disorderly intoxication.

A video posted to Twitter shows Buress, handcuffed, yelling at police and asking them why he is being detained. He screams at the officers, "Am I under arrest? For what?" he asks "Explain what I'm detained for?"

The comedian was booked into Miami-Dade jail at 1:57 am on Sunday and posted bail of $500 early Sunday morning.

"For trespassing", an officer replies.

The officers advise him that they suspect him of trespassing, although no trespassing charge was later filed against him.

One of the officers then shoves Buress into the back of the cruiser. "You don't have probable cause for anything and you're hella stupid right now". After the officer reportedly refused, the 34-year-old comedian reportedly began yelling profanities.

According to TMZ, which obtained an arrest affidavit from the incident, Buress asked an officer to call him an Uber.

It's not clear what Buress was in Miami for, but the Herald reports that the actor was arrested around 10:30 p.m. near Wynwood, which is now hosting Miami Art Basel-related events.

He gained prominence in 2014 for his routine on Bill Cosby's sexual assault accusations, which put those allegations into the national spotlight.
