Gas Prices Drop 3.3 Cents In Chattanooga

AAA reports that the price of a gallon of gasoline continues to drop in New Jersey.

Gas prices in Southwest Florida continued to fall over the week, returning to levels before they surged after Hurricane Harvey in late August. The Florida average is falling at a rate of a penny per day. "AAA forecasts a record-setting 97.4 million Americans will take a road trip during the final 10 days of the year".

By Christmas, prices in Florida should be on par with what they were a year ago - $2.32 - if they continue falling at a rate of about a penny a day, Jenkins said. "So today, motorists can find gas for $2.50 or less at 71 percent of gas stations in the country".

Adding to the declining trend, US refineries switch late in the year to a winter blend of gasoline, which is less expensive to make because more steps are needed with the summer blend to prevent excessive evaporation.

Both Duluth and Norcross have the lowest gas prices in Gwinnett County, with customers paying $2.01- $2.05 a gallon according to Gasbuddy.com.

The average in Jacksonville was $2.29 on Monday, according to AAA.

So far this year, the highest average price in Florida was $2.73 on September 9 and the lowest was $2.13 on July 17. The average price for a gallon of gas in CT is $2.65 ($2.67), $2.63 in NY ($2.65) and $2.71 in Pennsylvania ($2.73). The cheapest was $2.30 in the Tampa-St.

On Monday afternoon, the average price of a gallon of regular gas in OH was $2.21, while last week's average was $2.28. The busy holiday driving season will continue to be the most expensive in years as prices remain high after Hurricane Harvey.
