Jurgen Klopp praises Liverpool's defensive improvement

22 December 2017

Salah joined the club from AS Roma while Chamberlain joined the club from Arsenal in the last days of the transfer market.

After a slow beginning to his Kop career, the Ox has started two of the last four games, including the Merseyside derby and Sunday's 4-0 win at Bournemouth.

JURGEN KLOPP has slated Arsene Wenger for not getting the best out of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

"He had to adapt". But I don't know exactly in which way.

"You can not just play a little bit, you don't know your team-mates, it's all different".

Predicting a Liverpool starting XI this season under tinkerman Jurgen Klopp is only marginally more hard than forecasting the outcome of a social function involving the England cricket team. "So far that has been working very well and we have to keep doing that". He's really fit, you could see it at Bournemouth.

"Of course Giroud won't be playing, it could change a few things maybe".

"The biggest improvement, or biggest potential he still has, is being involved in goalscoring situations. He has it in himself, but he was not asked to do it so much".

"Ever since the Tottenham game we had to change something because we were not happy with how we performed at Wembley", goalkeeper Mignolet told Liverpool's official website.

"There is a lot of space for improvement as well".

Liverpool are fourth in the league with 34 points, a point and a place above Arsenal.

At Arsenal, Oxlade-Chamberlain regularly struggled with fitness issues, and with Klopp claiming the Reds were "lucky" this hadn't been a problem so far, there are still reservations.

"Luck is always involved in this, we aren't responsible for all the injuries, you can not avoid that", he added.

He said: "It's all so different, he has become more and more a Liverpool player". That's all I can say about that. It could have been better, but it could have been much worse. If we defend not that good as a team, then I'm not happy about it, but I don't then think the solution is a new player always.

"[He is] fantastic in the dressing room and thank god he's really, really good on the pitch as well".

"Salah came in the pre-season-that was the big difference".

"If Alex was here in pre-season that would be completely different".

"One thing you can be sure of is there will be goals".
