Churches planning Christmas Eve services

Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Winston-Salem, 4055 Robinhood Road, will have "A Meditation on the Season", focusing on soothing the spirit and comforting people facing uncertainty or loss at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. An evening service begins at 8 p.m. with Christmas music, carols and communion. The service will include the choir anthem "Angels all Around". New Year's Eve. The Solemnity of Mary, the Holy Mother of God Mass at 10 a.m. Pastor Steven Ramsey will deliver the message at each service and the choir is under the direction of Daniel Basinger.

■ Good Hope Free Will Baptist Church, 2506 Mill St., Winterville, will have a worship service at 10 a.m. Sunday. A Christmas Communion and Candlelight Service will be at 6 p.m.

The children of Immanuel Lutheran Church's Sunday school will lead the 10 a.m. Sunday morning worship with the theme "A Sola Christmas", focusing on the truths of Grace Alone, Faith Alone, Scripture Alone and Christ Alone.

Soloist Kristen Pickering and the Laguna Presbyterian Church Choir sings in the Christmas season of 2011. The church is located at 8340 E. Leigh Drive in Prescott Valley.

St. Patrick Church, 367 N. Main St., Hubbard: The Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Mass at 8:30 and 11 a.m.

St. Robert's Bellarmine Catholic Church in Atmore will hold Christmas Eve Services at 9 a.m. for regular mass, 5 p.m. for a children's Vigil Mass, and at midnight.

Marietta at 7 p.m.

De Carvalho added this time of year is a time of celebration and invites the community to join him at Mokuaikaua Church in recalling the Christmas story on Christmas Eve.

Highland United Methodist Church, 1808 N. Dixie Blvd., has scheduled a Christmas Eve Candlelight service at 6 p.m. Sunday. The service is informal and includes Scriptures, carols and the lighting of candles during "Silent Night".

Christmas Eve service, 7 p.m., December 24, at Christ Memorial Episcopal Church, 409 Columbia Ave., Williamstown; service will be led by Rev. Gene Sheppard; come celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ with us; public is invited.

EPISCOPAL CHURCH OF THE HEAVENLY REST A service celebrating Advent IV will begin at 8 a.m. Sunday at Episcopal Church of the Heavenly Rest, 602 Meander St.

A listing of New Year's Eve and New Year's Day services open to the public at area churches. It will be a casual service with the congregation selecting the Christmas carols they would like to sing. Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m. and Wednesday service is at 7 p.m.

" Atlee Church (Scottsville) holds a community Christmas Eve service at 5 p.m. Sunday at Victory Hall Theater".

FOSTORIA - West Independence United Methodist Church, 22876 US 224, Fostoria, will host two special Christmas Eve services.

Burns added the service is an opportunity for families to come together and celebrate the birth of Christ.
