Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) announced with Infinity Display and dual-lens camera

26 December 2017

The A8 comes with 4GB of RAM, while the A8 Plus comes with both 4GB or 6GB of RAM. The Galaxy A8 (2018) is the first in the A series to support Samsung Gear VR headset as well.

Samsung has launched 2018 forms of the Galaxy A8, a name it has utilized at least once some time recently, this time bringing a portion of the best Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8 features together in a single gadget, yet in a surprising design.

The new Galaxy A8 has a 5.6-inch Super AMOLED screen on the front, with the same 18.5:9 aspect ration as its bigger brethren, and a 1,080 x 2,220 pixel resolution. The 2018 Galaxy A8 and Galaxy A8 Plus are two of the most fascinating phones from Samsung in a while. Internal storage options are 32GB and 64GB, which is expandable via microSD card.

Rear camera: Both the phones have a 16-megapixel rear sensor with f/1.7 aperture, phase detection autofocus, LED flash and 1080p video recording.

The status of premium Galaxy phones further affords these two Samsung Pay support (with MST), IP68 waterproofing and fast charging over USB-C. Samsung says users can switch between the two cameras depending on the type of selfie you want - from close-ups, to portrait shots with a clear, crisp background. There is also the Live Focus feature to adjust the bokeh effect before or after the selfie has been taken as seen in the Galaxy Note 8, which has dual rear cameras.

Samsung hasn't revealed the price yet but has said that it will launch in the United Kingdom in April 2018 and be available in black, gold and orchid grey.

Software: Both the phones run Android 7.1 Nougat-based Experience user interface. The battery capacities are 3,000mAh and 3,500mAh for the smaller and larger models respectively (matching the S8 duo). Under the hood, the Galaxy A8 (2018) & Galaxy A8+ (2018) will be powered by Exynos 7885 processor. Because of those connections, the case maker is able to design and produce cases early for unreleased smartphones, therefore ensuring that cases are available as soon as these new phones launch.
