The Cranberries reunited and released an album a year ago, but a USA and European tour was cancelled in July due to an "ongoing back problem" suffered by O'Riordan. The band went on to sell over 40 million records to become Ireland's second-best-selling rock band after U2.

President of Ireland Michael D Higgins led tributes to the singer, saying: "It is with great sadness that I have learned of the death of Dolores O'Riordan, musician, singer and songwriter".

He said he had spoken to her shortly before Christmas and they had even spoken about collaborating on some songs. The song was easy for to sing thanks to me listening to it so many times. "People often ask me why I sing with a strong Irish accent".

The album also gave rise to the single Zombie, which was the No.1 in Thailand and across Europe.

"Initially, it was just a chord shape, with no real melody or lyrics", Ms. O'Riordan told the Irish Times. I saw him when he came to Limerick, when I was a kid.

News of O'Riordan's death was met with an outpouring of grief on social media, including from fellow musicians and entertainers. I never meant to hurt your feelings.

O'Riordan pursued a solo career in the late-Noughties, releasing the first of two solo albums in 2007. The group reunited in 2009. O'Riordan and Burton split up in 2014 after 20 years together. She pleaded guilty and was fined 6,000 euros ($6,600).

This album was not as critically well-received as the Cranberries' first two albums, but it still went on to be a very popular album, peaking at the number one spot and going multi-platinum in many countries. The band was supposed to play a bunch of United States dates in the fall but the tour was canceled.
