NBA All-Star Weekend Contestants Announced

All three events are slated for February 18 leading up to the 67th All-Star Game the following day at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The evening begins with the Taco Bell Skills Challenge, followed by the JBL Three-Point Contest and culminating with the Verizon Slam Dunk. His chief competition stands to come from the Golden State Warriors' Klay Thompson, who won the event in 2016, the Washington Wizards' Bradley Beal, the Oklahoma City Thunder's Paul George and the Phoenix Suns' Devin Booker.

But it's the Slam Dunk Contest field that really stands out. Last season, Oladipo won the Dunk of the Year in voting by fans for the inaugural NBA Awards. Gordon put up three flawless scores in that contest, and one dunk he had over the Magic mascot Stuff the Magic Dragon was one of the most awesome dunks we've ever seen. He last participated in 2015, representing the Orlando Magic, and finished in second behind Zach LaVine, now with the Chicago Bulls.

Larry Nance Jr. was named as one of the participants for on Thursday night.

The explosive guard out of North Carolina State, who was also selected to play in the 2018 Mtn Dew Kickstart Rising Stars on Friday, Feb. 16, holds averages of 14.8 points, 3.9 rebounds, 4.8 assists, 0.95 steals and 28.9 minutes per game in 44 games (all starts) for Dallas this season.

So, this has all the makings of an outstanding dunk contest.

The Slam Dunk Contest will be the third event of All-Star Weekend Saturday Night.

But the Lakers forward is an accomplished dunker in his own right, and in his third season has already earned a reputation for putting opponents on posters.
