Drake shoots video at Miami school and donates scholarship

Drake also gave an impromptu concert at the University of Miami, where he awarded a $50,000 scholarship to lucky student Destiny James.

Drake was in Florida to film a video for his song God's Plan at a local school and after giving Destiny the cheque, he invited her to the shoot. "I wish you all the best in life, a lot of love, a lot of happiness for you, your friends and your family".

According to school alumnus Edgar Grant Santiago, who made a beeline to Miami Senior High once he heard the Canadian rapper was on site, "The next thing you know, you got the crowd of students and a couple of alumni going insane when he got the music playing while recording".

The chart-topping rap star has hailed the National Basketball Association star after he passed the 30,000 career points milestone, and Drake has admitted he regards LeBron to be one of his heroes.

According to social media, the 6 God rapper traveled to Miami to shoot the visual for his latest single, and he made sure to give back to the generous campus.

In another video posted to Twitter, Drake is speaking to the large crowd at the high school and tells them he is going to talk to their principal about returning to the school "when the album comes out..."

Drake's "God's Plan" is about to be the biggest record in his catalog.

"That showed that our school was coming up" student Devenson Cadet said. I don't think I've ever been to a more turnt school than this. The school administrators and Drake bodyguards could not contain the joy and excitement from the students.

A coach at the school, Helder Vall, told Radio.com that while the administrators were aware of the rapper's visit, no one else on campus knew Drake would be stopping by.

"I hope you all have a great year, I hope you go on to do incredible things", the singer said to students in the stands after filming wrapped.
