A college student from southwest suburban Chicago allegedly fatally shot his parents on the campus of Central Michigan University on Friday and remains at large and is considered risky.
The university, in Mount Pleasant, identified the victims as James Eric Davis Sr., 48, and Diva Jeenen Davis, 47, the suspect's parents.
The couple was reportedly picking up their son from college for spring break on Friday morning when they were gunned down in his dormitory on the fourth floor of Campbell Hall.
Currently, more than 100 law enforcement officers from across MI are searching for Davis Jr., who was last seen leaving a residence hall on campus.More news: BJP usurped power through proxy in Meghalaya:Rahul
IL authorities have confirmed that one of the two victims of the Central Michigan University shooting was a police officer.
Bellwood Mayor Andre Harvey told reporters Friday evening that he grew up with James Davis Sr., who had been a family friend and a part-time police officer with the department for more than 20 years.
Klaus said Davis was seen wearing a dark hoodie following the shooting. The suspect is considered armed and risky.
The school says parents are being told to go to a local hotel in Mount Pleasant where staff would assist them. No other details were released.
Another wrote: "I'm on CMU's campus at work right now and just got a call that there was shots fired in the towers and they haven't said anything about having the suspect in custody or anyone being hurt just that there was gunfire and I'm pretty terrified!" On Thursday night, Klaus said Davis suffered what officers believed was a drug overdose or a bad reaction to drugs and he was taken to a hospital.
University officials revealed that Davis had been taken to a local hospital the previous night for a "drug-related incident" and was released about an hour before Friday morning's shooting.
Yeagley says when officers determined that person posed no threat, Davis said he was fine and was leaving campus Friday for spring break. Visitors also weren't being allowed to enter.

Police on Saturday continued searching for James Eric Davis Jr., who allegedly ran from campus following the shooting at Campbell Hall. An automated phone message from the school also was sent to students.
