OnePlus 6 fresh teaser reveals design changes and specs

13 April 2018

Last month, OnePlus's latest flagship - the OnePlus 5T went out of stock in North America just four months after release. The brand has been teasing about some key features of the upcoming smartphone in the past and now, it has officially teased the OnePlus 6.

Not to forget the signature "Alert Slider" that makes for a comfortable everyday user experience. OnePlus always launches a major model in Spring followed by another model with a minor tweak in the fall.

Previously, OnePlus have already announced that they wouldn't be able to get Treble support for their smartphone line-up because their existing devices lacked the dedicated vendor partition that Treble needed. Since the launch of Alert Slider in 2015, all the OnePlus devices bear the Alert Slider on the left. The "slide to focus" functionality will likely be optional, as is the case with most OxygenOS features which users can usually disable at will.

According to a new report from Deadline, OnePlus is indeed planning a special edition OnePlus 6 smartphone that will be included as part of Marvel's "biggest advertising campaign yet" for the upcoming movie. The back panel might come in Glass back or some other material. The implementation of a notch has been extensively justified by CEO Pete Lau in a recent blog post. The device will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor and will come with 8GB RAM and 256GB of storage. In both photos, we don't get a full look at the device. It will come in 6GB and 8GB RAM.

In an image posted on the company's Twitter, the OnePlus 6 was shows resting beneath a OnePlus 5T.

In line with observations from earlier leaks, the phone seems to house a dual camera setup at the rear that is stacked at the center, arranged vertically, with the LED flash and the fingerprint sensor below it in-line.

An iPhone X-style notch has also been confirmed - as has the option to black it out, for those who (like us) find it the year's most unfortunate Android phone trend - but alas no official word yet on the launch date.
