After her time at NBC, during which Vester worked for the station in Washington, London, Chicago and NY, where she would latterly be an anchor on NBC News at Sunrise and MSNBC, the journalist was poached by Fox News.
According to the letter obtained by the Los Angeles Times and The Hollywood Reporter, Brokaw characterized the allegations as a "drive by shooting" on the part of Linda Vester, the former NBC correspondent who recently detailed her accusations to the Washington Post and Variety.

"Vester, the Washington Post and Variety can not diminish that", he wrote.
Vester alleged that on one occasion when she was visiting Denver to cover the visit of Pope John Paul II in 1993, Brokaw approached her from behind and acted inappropriately.
In a statement to The Post, Vester's lawyer said that "my client stands by the allegations which speak for themselves".
"There was a culture at NBC News, in my experience, where women who raise questions about misconduct get labeled as troublemakers", Vester told Variety. He offered a contrasting account of his meetings with Ms. Vester, denying that he touched her beyond "a perfunctory goodnight kiss".More news: Tampa Bay Lightning drops Game 1 to the Boston Bruins

Vester, who worked as a war correspondent for NBC News, told the publications that that Brokaw groped her and tried to forcibly kiss her in the 1990s. She also mentioned she was Catholic as a way of rebuffing his advances. "If NY was so traumatic, why a reunion?" he wrote.
"I received three calls that night". No clenching her neck. "Not in high school, college or thereafter".
"Some of her relatives by marriage are very close friends", Brokaw wrote. I don't recall saying, 'Ok.' I just remember being frozen. He notes that her contract was not renewed, a detail Vester also shared with The Post.
"I am not a ideal person", Brokaw wrote, "I've made mistakes, personally and professionally".
