A jawan of Border Security Force (BSF) was martyred on Tuesday after Pakistan Army violated ceasefire along the global border in Jammu's Samba sector in the late Monday night.

Constable Devendra Singh of village Lakhanpur, Sikandera, Agra, Uttar Pradesh, deployed at Manguchak border in Samba got martyred in Pak firing. He said a bigger infiltration bid aided by the Pakistani rangers was, however, foiled by the BSF on the global border (IB) on Tuesday.

There is a possibility that a group of five (militants) managed to sneak into this side through a tunnel on Sunday night.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Jammu and Kashmir on May 19. "BSF does not initiate (ceasefire violations) from this side, but whenever Pakistan initiates, we give them a befitting response", Sharma told reporters at the BSF headquarters in Jammu. However, the IB was quiet after a couple of sector-level flag meetings between officers of BSF and Rangers. We have not so far detected any tunnel but are looking for it.

Pakistan has repeatedly violated ceasefire agreement with India, with more than 650 such incidents this year alone - till April. "The anti-tunnelling exercise is going on", he said.

The men were seen at the border yesterday but they went missing, BSF sources say.
