Paramount Network, TV Land, and CMT will all cease broadcasting episodes of the show following Roseanne Barr's racist and antisemitic tweets that resulted in ABC cancelling the reboot.
"Roseanne" drew a large audience, averaging about 18 million viewers.
"We have a lot bigger things going on in the country right now, certainly, that the president is spending his time on", said White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders.
"I have only taken Ambien once ... but I don't remember one of the side-effects being racism", CNN's John Berman tweeted.
In a tweet posted just after midnight ET, which has since been deleted, Barr wrote, "guys I did something unforgivable [sic] so do not defend me". Since continuing the show without Barr in the title role still means financial benefits for her as its creator, putting the remaining cast in a new show is something that works for everyone.More news: US Navy conducting Sunday morning maneuvers in the South China Sea
"I just knew that this would not end well", Arnold said.
Barr went on to blame Ambien, an insomnia drug, for her "egregious indefensible" mistake. "They decided that their career ambitions, or desire to return to network television, or financial interests would best be served by looking the other way".
The president's intervention came as Barr blamed her "Roseanne" co-workers for the axing of the sitcom.
Valerie Jarrett, a onetime adviser to former President Barack Obama, wants to turn a racist tweet aimed at her by Roseanne Barr into "a teaching moment", she said. One is the standards people have for today's celebrities: "A celebrity like Roseanne, you might think her career's over - but look at the time we live in", Smith said, pointing to Mel Gibson's successful showbiz rehabilitation years after his anti-Semitic rant.More news: Trump says American prisoner in Venezuela has been released
Spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders says Trump's tweet Wednesday was meant to point out media bias against him. Barr tweeted: "muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj".
This last tweet she noticed seems to suggest that the Obama couple may have something to do with the cancelation of Roseanne because she mocked their Netflix deal before. Shortly after the show aired in March, it was renewed for a second season.
"Then you've heard more than I have", he said.
While social media can be a positive tool, she said, "it can also dehumanize because it's distant".
Roseanne didn't take too kindly to that as she replied: 'i created the platform for that inclusivity and you know it.ME.More news: Europe must make press freedom in Iran a priority
