National Doughnut Day Is Friday: Here's Where to Get a Free One

The company says the Timbits will be honey-dipped with edible 24k gold. It doesn't matter whether you spell it "donut" or "doughnut", as long as we all agree that free food is the best. Burger King is cutting a hole out of its whopper and calling it a "flame-grilled donut". To get the deal, sign up or download the Android or iPhone app.

Sadly, those looking for the Whopper Donut will walk around Friday with an empty stomach.

The "frame-grilled donut", which also comes with a mini slider made from the part cut out in the middle, will be available in select restaurants in New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Boston and Salt Lake City.

Those who stop by a participating location on National Donut Day can pick one free doughnut of their choice - any variety - with no purchase necessary. Krispy Kreme is also offering a free doughnut to all customers, with no additional purchases necessary.

Dunkin' Donuts: Dunkin' Donuts is giving customers a free doughnut with the purchase of a beverage for this year's celebration.

Tasty Donuts will be offering free doughnuts to the first 500 customers on National Donut Day.
