The Golden State Warriors Have Broken the National Basketball Association

05 July 2018

ESPN, Sports Illustrated, the Los Angeles Times and New Orleans Times-Picayune reported Rondo will sign a one-year deal with the Lakers for $9 million after releasing forward Julius Randle to free up space under the National Basketball Association salary cap.

Like most Los Angeles Lakers fans, LaVar Ball is feeling pretty good about LeBron James joining the Purple and Gold via free agency.

According to Marks, the Lakers are now projected to have $23 million in cap space next summer. Los Angeles's has also reportedly been submitting low-ball offers, because Leonard is a free agent next off-season and could sign with the Lakers anyway.

J. Michael of the Indianapolis Star confirmed that Evans agreed to a one-year, $12 million deal with the Pacers (h/t J. Michael).

LeBron has never gone somewhere alone and has never seemed interested in playing with talent that is years away from being where he needs them to be, so maybe he knows something we do not.

They arguably got a better deal by trading Crowder and Derrick Rose to the Utah Jazz and Iman Shumpert to the Sacramento Kings in a three-team deal that brought them George Hill and Rodney Hood.

To win another championship, LeBron will have to overcome some challenges.

After signing Rondo, the Lakers now have $5.6 million left in cap space, which is presumably enough to make a couple more veteran signings, perhaps to role players to fill out the roster. "My sources are saying Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart, Kyle Kuzma, two firsts and two pick swaps ..."

Perhaps James wanted to join the Lakers because of his family's wishes and his own aspirations in the film and entertainment industry. Only 15 of them have been featured players in the East, the remaining four (Dwight Howard, Tony Parker, Al Jefferson and Isaiah Thomas) filled by players who are free agents. He advanced to eight straight NBA Finals that routinely last until mid-June. Besides shedding his Cleveland Cavaliers jersey, ESPN's Brian Windhorst believes that James will be adapting a new style of play with those teammates. Though with James joining the team this week, the Lakers' starting lineup is going to look completely different next season.

Los Angeles selected Ball with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. And let us not forget that the shortstop is under contract through 2021.
