He was referring to revelations last week that Cohen secretly recorded a conversation with Trump about payments to Karen McDougal, a former Playboy model who claims to have had an affair with Trump years ago.
It was then reported that Cohen says Trump knew of a meeting in NY in June 2016 between key aides and several Russians promising compromising information on Hillary Clinton.
"On the question of the attorney-client privilege that Giuliani is talking about, I don't know exactly what he's talking about, meaning, when it comes to the tape that we've heard about, apparently Giuliani has waived attorney-client privilege", Abrams said. Cohen is under investigation by the USA attorney for the Southern District of NY over his business dealings. Scaramucci did not join in that label, but he did say there has certainly been a breach in their relationship. That do have no relation to us.
"I did NOT know of the meeting with my son, Don jr.", the president tweeted.
Nunberg said during his time with Trump's campaign, he had known Cohen as Trump's loyal "fixer" and was surprised the president's longtime ally would release such information.More news: Mission: Impossible - Fallout Box Office Day 3: Has A Very Good Weekend!
"I take the president at his word that he did not know about the meeting", Scaramucci said on CNN's "State of the Union" on Sunday. The Russian government said through intermediaries to Trump Jr. that it was supporting Trump and wanted to help the campaign.
Moreover, should Cohen choose to cooperate with investigators, including Mueller, it's not clear what information he has that they could not gather for themselves or have not already learned on their own.
"Colluding about Russians ― I'm not sure that's even a crime", Giuliani told CNN's Alisyn Camerota.
"We have negotiations going on with them".
"We don't see the legal basis for a president obstructing by merely taking an action in firing somebody that he had every right to fire". They haven't responded in about a week to 10 days.More news: Greece mourns as death toll from wildfires reaches 81
Former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci said that while it's possible Trump could have been told about the meeting after the fact, he's siding with the president's comments that he didn't know beforehand.
But Giuliani has said Trump's legal team is less enthusiastic because Mueller may lay a perjury trap, using anything Trump says that contradicts with another witness statement as a pretext for laying charges. Giuliani claimed Sunday the recordings contained no evidence that implicated the president in illegal activity.
Trump, according to The Times, in the past complained to staff about what he called a conflict because the two men had a bad business deal over fees at the Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Va., which led to Mueller, who was Federal Bureau of Investigation director at the time, to resign his membership there. The moves suggest Cohen is looking for a way out of looming trouble.
The parties have been "distracted by all kinds of things", Giuliani said.More news: India effectively strips four million people of citizenship in Assam
