Newcastle agree deal to sign Japan’s Yoshinori Muto from Mainz

31 July 2018

Newcastle do not have the best finances, but once Aleksandar Mitrovic has been confirmed as officially leaving the club for Fulham, then they could potentially recoup around £20 million for him.

Newcastle United have struck a deal on Japan global striker Yoshinori Muto's transfer from Mainz, the English Premier League club announced Friday.

Newcastle will likely make a profit on the £14.5 million they paid Anderlecht for his services in July 2015.

"I'm happy to the moon and back", said Mitrovic, who scored for Serbia at the World Cup earlier this summer.

"The 23-year-old striker proved to be the flawless fit for Fulham, scoring 12 times in just 17 starts to help the team reach Wembley".

"I have love for the fans".

At normal clubs, it is usually the Championship club loaning a player off a Premier League one, not the other way around! They're incredible fans and I have a really good connection with them.

The Premier League club said the deal is now subject to approval, with 26-year-old Muto needing a work permit.

A technically gifted side, Fulham will benefit from the physical presence Mitrovic provides in the coming campaign. We want to keep making big things, and with all the fans behind us I think we can go far'.
