Henrotay insisted, "I have been reading everywhere that Chelsea is saying it is up to Thibaut, but he has made it clear to the club that the best option for him is to move to Madrid", Christophe Henrotay said, according to The Sun.

The Portuguese manager was said to have wanted to rejoin with his former player as he wished to strengthen United's right-wing.

The new manager has promised to put the fun back into Chelsea's football but on Sunday's evidence he has serious thinking to do first, and he vowed that everyone would work hard to ensure they were ready for the Premier League.

Instead, the apparent no-show only serves to cast further doubt over the 26-year-old's future at Stamford Bridge just five days out from a season-opening trip to Huddersfield Town.

Earlier, TUKO.co.kehad reported how Manchester United are said to be targeting Chelsea winger Willian in a stunning deal for the Brazil worldwide.

The Blues started off their season on a bad note as they fell to a 2-0 defeat in the Community Shield on Sunday without the services of Hazard and Courtois.

"The only club I knew that really made an official offer for me was Barcelona. I want only players with very high level of motivation", said Sarri, who has replaced Antonio Conte in charge.

Hazard, whose deal expires in 2020, has stalled over a new contract offer and has always been the subject of speculation over a move to Real.

Luiz, 31, is delighted that Willian is set to stay. "In the next week we have a friendly match [against Lyon on Tuesday] and I prefer in this moment to be on the pitch with the players for training". Chelsea risk losing him for a reduced fee in January or for free next summer. I don't know in the future. I've watched clips of his Napoli team to see the way they played.

"The results I'm sure will come, because we're good players".

"I don't think I should comment too much about that in this moment because we are at a delicate time in the process".

It was a heart-breaking blow for the talented goalkeeper, who looked a cert for Roy Hodgson's England squad for Euro 2016, with many even tipping him to wrestle the Three Lions starting spot from Joe Hart.

"I was just working and trying to do my best", Luiz added.

"We're looking forward to it".
